Awesome technique – I always relate back to Animade’s style of using this mezzotint grain; https://vimeo.com/171382740 – Though I think their grain is handmade / frame by frame, I think we can push these layer styles forward to similar effect easily :D
I agree, looks like they have some hand-keyframed love in there! But I’m sure even their custom textures are fairly automated to a point! :) Thanks for watching, Andrew!
Ive fond a nasty way of making a parody on your fx (coz sometimes those dissolve piexels are way to prominent). so here’s what i did – i duplicate the layer that i want to make a grain on then i apply scatter – crank it to the way you are happy, check the randomize on every frame, AND THEN – a postorize time and put it to 6 fps, and click the preserve underlying transparency to make it an overlapping layer, and that’s it, I’m getting a cool effect that looks the way I need to cause I can control the grain size. if I’m not expressing it right – I can make some screenshots)))
