In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to apply grungy materials onto your 3D models in Cinema 4D. Sketch and Toon is such a deep module inside C4D and to go over this technique I’ll be introducing you to the S&T Spot Shader. It works a bit like the Cel Shader, so if you’re not familiar with the Cel Shader check out my tutorial covering it. Spot Shader is mainly used for creating halftone like effects onto your image, driven by the diffuse shading on your 3D objects but it’s very versatile as you’ll see in this tutorial. If you have any questions, be sure to hit me in the comments below and I hope you enjoy!

how to create noise shadow on the wall like you? thanks!
Hey EJ. I am sure there isn’t a solution for this, but do you know of any way to remove the flickering grain when using the Spot shader? I love the look of the Spot shader in the stills, but as soon as I create an animation, the grain dancing around is so distracting. Thanks!
If its noisy Spot Shader, you may want to play around with different Texture mapping methods like Texture space or 2D (UV). Some of those noise mapping methods essentially “stick” the noise to the object so it won’t move when the object moves.
How would you apply that texture but have it be a white noise? Since it’s in the luminance channel, the white grain doesn’t come through.
You could apply it to the main Luminance channel and layer it up using a Layer Shader and apply it on top of the cel shader!
